The goal of this research workshop is to circumscribe and redefine t he role of aesthetics, the arts and their theorization at this given moment, both in relation to other formations of knowledge and in relation to society. What are the critical functions of aesthetics today? How does the investigation fo the sensible and embodied conditions of knowledge, the exploration of the imaginary grounds of social and political action, or the engagement with artworks between autonomy and heteronomy contribute to renewing an old task: the self-criticism of sensible reason? This second Fribourg Workshop Aesthetics & Critique will include debates on decolonisation, social aesthetics, translation and the powers of imagination.
